Morris Minor Split Screen First Registered 26th March 1956

Now known as “Lottie”

Owned by Keith,& June Worman

"Lottie" On her way back to Hatfield behind our trusty old Scorpio 4X4 which was sold last year after 8 years loyal service     June & Keith Worman    Martin on his way to put"Lottie" into the centre of the trailer

     (Keith is the webmaster)

The present owner purchased this vehicle on 18th May 2003, having come from Gloustershire to Hertfordshire.  It is the first classic car this one is registered near to my birth date hence the reason my son martin & myself brought it now with Morris Minors you either love em or hate em! yes you have guessed it I like them (the wife likes minis so do I but lets leave clothing out of this & get  back to the car)

Originally first registered in Dulwich in 1956, the lady owner kept this vehicle some 12 years until 1968 when the 2nd Owner from South Norwood kept the vehicle for 7 years until 1975.

The vehicle then went west to Plymouth where it was owned by 3 different owners in 5 years until 1980 when it was then sold to a lady in North Yorkshire who kept the vehicle 23 years until 2002 ,it was then sold to a new owner in Derby who only purchased the vehicle for its original no plate and sold the number for £950 then re-registered it and sold it on to a owner in Cheltenham where the present owner purchased the vehicle in May 2003, when a lot of silly items did not work mainly electrical items ,lights, wipers etc and washers.

Since then several lights have been fixed and the Semaphore (flip out indicators) have been repaired and the lenses replaced. It has been serviced ,greased and been given an Oil change in the process .

All are now working fine at last a bit of TLC !!!!,I do have several documents for varying bits of work and history on "lottie" but, Iam keen to acquire any other paperwork or documentation for this vehicle.

The object of this vehicle is to be a rolling restoration as many items of work have already been undertaken on this vehicle and it will be brought into good condition (not concurs) again, it was our intention to run tIf you look close you can see the bubbles of rust on the bottom of the doorshis vehicle as much as possible in 2003 to find out its good and bad points, over 1,000 miles were done and it has proved quite reliable, the underneath is solid and has had some work done by previous owners most of the work now required is from bottom up

As for the future, 4 doors and the boot are rotten and are due to be replaced (Jan 04 replacement doors being repaired)  new boot lid is currently being prepared and new  front wings have been ordered these items will be sprayed off the vehicle and fitted this year and some of the Chrome will be replaced. Replacement Glass for the whole vehicle has been purchased as the present glass has the old number etched into it and some of it is scratched quite badly ,A replacement engine has just been acquired which will be rebuilt with a lead free cylinder head.

Looks clean after a polish!!The interior needs re-vamping and  tidying up, the roof lining needs replacing. and the only modern item being installed on the vehicle to cope with modern traffic conditions will be amber motorcycle indicators which are small and discreet as I do not like the round bolt on indicators as it interferes with the vehicles lines and it means drilling holes in the bodywork

These new lights will be fitted under the front and rear bumpers and the semaphores (flip out indicators) will be retained and work alongside the new indicators.

This year "Lottie" will be taken further a field to rallies and shows by myself Martin & June with the Hatfield Heritage Vehicle Society .

September 04,

This year "Lottie`s" underside nooks and crannies have been steam cleaned and wire brushed and Waxoyled completely , all the copper brakes pipes & junctions on the whole car have been re-newed all the brake shoes and brake cylinders have been replaced 4, the master cylinder has also been over hauled.

"Lottie`s"  replacement doors and boot have been fitted and they look good , Many thanks to H.H.V.S fellow member Terry Clay who is a dab hand with the spray gun and worked hard to get the doors to the condition they are in (mind you Terry is a dab hand when it comes to anything to do with cars)

On "Lottie" she has the pull handle/arm rests on the rear doors as opposed to the standard pull straps these are in maroon leather Newton Commercials are currently renovating these for me. Next on the list New head lining and wiring up of those indicators , it basically is finding the time to do the work. New wings will be fitted next year.

"Lottie" has been on several jaunts this year with the H.H.V.S and solo and has performed excellently and only let us down once, on the junction of A2/M25 roundabout (of all places) on the way home from Detling rally in Kent when the coil gave up , Luckily I did have a spare in the boot.
