Hatfield Heritage Vehicle Society 2005 Classic Car Rally Photos

We held our 2nd classic car rally at Birchwood Leisure Centre on Saturday 11th June, which was well attended by over 320 Vintage, veteran & Veteran Classic cars & motorbikes. The show was also supported by many trade and auto jumble stalls, along with the bouncy castle, kiddies go-karts and the Barmy Army -  that grand collection of lunatics in their tracked and wheeled army vehicles of all shapes and sizes.

We saw vehicles from the 1920’s to the 1980’s from America, Europe and all corners of the World – all together a fantastic turnout and a really hard job for the judges. St Albans majorettes were also in attendance and put on good display. The catering was provided by Hatfield scout Group.

In all 14 different classes of vehicles were being judged prizes on the day ,many prizes donated by local businesses , Club secretary Colin Croft commented “This was the 2nd show that we had organised and our choice to have an arena this year was a good one , the arena hosted childrens sports ,tug-of-war which was won by the barmy army, most people were enjoying themselves looking at the various stands and different makes of cars that we had on display, most of the competitors had commented what a good venue this was and are looking forward to next year. We are now planning for a bigger and better show in 2006

Paul Mill and his side-kick ( must get his name) did a fantastic job and have already been booked, and agreed, for next year. You may recall we saw them first at their own club, Rover P5 Alive, show at "Darling Buds of May".  Weren't they great - but fellows, we've sussed out how you do it !!!

The falconry display was excellent and really got loads of people around the ring. We must have him again next year and I suggest we get in there now and make the booking.  Majorettes were great and their colourful displays went down well.  Perhaps we should just have one troupe next year and put them on twice.
